Institutions and Units Under the Army Urged to be Ready to Carry Out Core Tasks for 2023

PHNOM PENH: The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Army, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, has praised and appreciated officers at all levels of the army for working hard to fulfill their roles and responsibilities throughout 2022, and getting good results in accordance with the set out plan.

Speaking at the RCAF meeting to review the report on military-security work in 2022 and the direction of work to be continued in 2023 on Tuesday morning, 10 January, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet praised army leadership, commanders at all levels, and all army soldiers who have worked together to fulfill their role effectively in accordance with the plan set out in a timely manner, effectively responding to various situations, including a continued involvement with the Royal Government in the fight against Covid-19.

He said that the work and achievements made in 2022 reflect the high will, conscience and commitment of the leaders and soldiers striving to fulfil their roles and responsibilities to serve the nation, motherland and people, in accordance with the constitution, national defense law and government regulations.

In order to continue achieving good results for the work direction of 2023, he reminded all institutions and units under the army to continue paying attention and to be ready to perform all tasks and duties in accordance with the regulations of the Royal Government, Ministry of National Defense and the General Command.

In 2023, Cambodia will host the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the ASEAN Para Games in May, and will also hold National Elections in July, two major events that require strong national security. Lt. Gen. Hun Manet has also instructed all army officials to be ready to respond to disaster relief operations in 2023, and to also cooperate well in maintaining overall security, stability and public order.
